Last week I agreed to take part in this new project created by two students of the Department of Data Science at Maastricht University called Hackademia podcast. Their idea is to make podcasts about interesting research projects and explain them for the general public, so to make complex ideas simple.

Daniele Di Mitri is a professor of Multimodal Learning Technologies at the German University of Digital Science. At the German UDS, he leads the research group "Augmented Feedback" and coordinates the master's in Advanced Digital Realities. He is an associated researcher at the DIPF - Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education and a lecturer at the Goethe University of Frankfurt, Germany. Daniele Di Mitri received his PhD in Learning Analytics and Wearable Sensor Support from the Open University of the Netherlands. His current research focuses on developing AI-driven, multimodal learning technologies to enhance digital education. It aims to create innovative, responsible solutions that improve learning experiences through advanced feedback systems and ethical integration of technology. He is a "Johanna Quandt Young Academy" fellow and was elected "AI Newcomer 2021" at the KI Camp by the German Informatics Society. He is a member of the CrossMMLA, a special interest group of the Society for Learning Analytics Research, and the chair of the special interest group on AI for Education of the European Association for Technology-Enhanced Learning.
LAK'19 Arizona
March is the month of the Learning Analytics & Knowledge conference, in 2019 has taken place in Tempe, Phoenix, Arizona. Coming back from a very long journey (extended by some days off) in the United States, I decided to wrap up all my conference highlights in a blog post.

yOUr Day at OUNL
17th January we organised yOUrDay 2019, an event promoted by the yOUng network of the Open University, which I am proudly helping being a member of the board. yOUr is an event organised by young employees at the OU but addressed to everyone. The idea was to find space and time to foster inter-generational collaboration, promote future career opportunities and better professionalization for the employees of the Open University. This year the theme of the day was "yOUr day, yOUr future".
Me and the members of the yOUng board (Katya, Manon, Laurie and Mari) we organised a very interesting event, which included two keynotes: 1) Theo Bastiens, rector of the OU, 2) Eshter Crombag, professor at Maastricht University; four different workshops about Social Media, Career Development, Stress Management and Pitching ideas. There was also a pub quiz which was quite fun to do, a pitch session where more people presented their interesting ideas, to be complemented with lunch and networking drinks with music.
yOUr day was an occasion to bring, at least for one day, yOUng employees at the centre of the Open University. Sometimes forgotten, compared to their senior colleagues, young people nowadays live a much more flexible and challenging life with a lot of uncertainties. For this reason, peer learning activities as yOUr day can help to boost their confidence, and professional development.

We are pleased to announce the 15th EATEL Summer School on Technology Enhanced Learning (JTELSS) that will take place on June 1-8, 2019 in Bari, Italy. The summer school is organised by the European Association of Technology Enhanced Learning – EATEL (http://ea-tel.eu/).
The EATEL summer school provides a stimulating learning environment where participants get opportunities to develop research skills, increase their knowledge base, collaborate with others in their own and complementary research areas, engage in debate, have access to experts in the field, and discuss their own work.
